So today I was cleaning up my apartment and I started going through a bunch of old magazines from last year. I threw all the ones I knew I didn't want anymore in a pile and began to get ready to throw them out when I thought "Well, I might as well go through them all one more time. There may be some interesting info in there that I want."
So I started going through them and as time went on I got more and more tired of doing so, so I began to flip through them faster and faster. I got to one, a magazine called relax, which used to be a hip, sub-culture magazine and has now turned into a semi-alternative fashion and street culture mag. At any rate, I was flipping through the June, 2005 issue when there was an article on Tokyo nightlife. I started reading, just to see if any of the parties the dominatrix has talked about was in there. Sure enough, the Amaranth Lounge had a little writeup, but they didn't mention the corset parties they used to (?) have. Dept H's "salon KITTYFIRE 2099" had a blurb as well as Tokyo Perve. But as I kept flipping through the article, I come across a full page photo of two S&M queens, in Torture Garden dresses, sitting on two slaves.
Hold up, I thought. Is that the dominatrix? Surely it couldn't be. Just because I saw some Japanese girl in a rubber dress doesn't mean it's her. But wait, look at that nose. The lips. That's definitely her! I still couldn't really believe it until I noticed the butterfly tattoo on her chest. Holy shit, it is her.
My girlfriend in a magazine I bought a good 10 months before I ever met her. What a coincidence.
(Once I scan the picture I'll put it up.)
What was your most memorable or favorite school field trip?
I think it was in high school when we went to Greensboro to see some Shakespeare play. "Taming of the Shrew"? "King Lear"? Something like that.
Anyway, as we got on the bus to go back home, my friend Ben and I were looking out the window when we saw this guy walking along with a slightly funny gait. My friend Ben lowered the window and yelled "Hey crip!" The guy didn't hear him (thankfully) but when he did turn around, it was obvious he was missing not only a leg but an arm as well.
Ben felt awful about callnig him a crip when he actually was handicapped, but I never ever let him forget that moment, even 15 years later.
What's the most recent vivid dream or nightmare that you remember?
I had a dream once where a co-worker of mine and I were on assignment in Europe to cover some story for a newspaper or magazine. We were in some small little quaint town and we were supposed to take up residence in this small little building while we were there. When we went by the building to check it out, it was full of Nazis.
We got a little scared but one guy saw us and asked us "Oh, are you the reporters that are supposed to be staying on the top floor? If so, I've got the key for you." He seemed very nice so we followed him into the building and he proceeded to head to the basement. Both of us got a little freaked by this, so my co-worker waited on the stairs while I followed him downstairs to get the key. He chatted while he gave me the key and all the while seemed very nice, so both me and my co-worker relaxed a little.
"Now to get to the top floor, head down this hallway, and take the stairs at the end all the way ot the top," he said, pointing down a corridor at the end of which, we could see a flight of stairs.
We thanked him and proceeded to make our way down the hall but as soon as I went through the door, it slammed shut behind me and I could hear my co-worker screaming bloody murder. I freaked and pounded on the door and called her name, but I couldn't hear anything from her or from the other side of the door.
I ran into an adjacent room and found a path back to the place we entered the basement at and found my co-worker lying unconscious on the floor. I tried to wake her up at which point I woke up. The scream that she let out was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced.
Last night, my girlfriend expressed her wish that I grow my hair long and get a tattoo. I told her she can forget the tattoo (well, until I think of something meaningful which I would want to have on my body for the rest of my life) but the hair thing is something I can handle. ちょいメタル was the description I was given, which would translate to something approximating "a little metal" so over the next couple of months, that's where I'm going with my look.
It's 2PM on a Saturday afternoon in Tokyo, Japan and I have not set foot outside my apartment yet. I cannot think of anything worth doing or anything that makes me want to go outside. Something is wrong with me. I live in the most exciting city in the world and yet here I am in my apartment.
That said, tonight I am going to the PMKFA exhibition/show/party at Cafe Pause tonight because Jean emailed me and asked me to come. Y500 drinks and snacks sounds like a good enough reason to me.
